Thomas M. Turpin - President and Chief Executive Officer
Thomas M. Turpin

Tom Turpin serves as President and CEO of Old Mutual Asset Management, the US-based investment management business of our global financial services organization, Old Mutual plc. In this role, Tom's responsibilities include overseeing an institutional asset management business, Old Mutual Asset Management and a retail asset management business, Old Mutual Capital.

Tom's primary focus is on the continued evolution of Old Mutual as a premier savings and wealth management company and creating an environment where unique, entrepreneurial asset management boutiques specializing in high quality, active investment strategies for institutional and individual investors can thrive. Tom is a member of the board of directors of several affiliated companies and investment fund structures. He also participates as a member of the Old Mutual Group Executive Committee, where he is actively involved in the development and execution of the overall business strategy of the Old Mutual group.

Previously, Tom served as Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Tom's responsibilities included oversight over the trust company, the operations and technology areas as well as the affiliate relationship management function. Prior to joining Old Mutual in 2002, Mr. Turpin was Managing Director and Head of Defined Contribution Plans, as well as Chief Administrative Officer for Institutional Management, Defined Contribution, and Retail Businesses of Putnam Investments. Prior to joining Putnam, he held a variety of leadership positions with The Boston Company, primarily in the Master Trust & Custody Division, from 1982 to 1993. Tom holds an Accounting degree from Assumption College.


Linda Tilton Gibson - Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Linda T. Gibson

Linda Gibson is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Old Mutual Asset Management. In such capacity, she leads the affiliate relationship management, information technology, legal, risk and compliance for the asset management business and oversees and serves on the board of the Old Mutual Asset Management Trust Company. Linda serves on the Executive Management Team and is a member of the boards of directors of various affiliated companies. She has over 20 years of experience in US and non-US financial services markets. Prior to joining Old Mutual in 2000, Linda served as Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel of Signature Financial Group, Inc. (formerly a division of Massachusetts Financial Services Company) where she oversaw the legal operations of the Boston, London and Grand Cayman offices as well as provided consulting services with respect to global investment product design and strategy. Linda received her JD from Boston University School of Law, is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and holds a BA in mathematics from Bates College. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


Matthew J. Appelstein, CFA, CPA - Executive Vice President, Head of Institutional Sales and Marketing
Matthew J. Appelstein

Matthew Appelstein is Head of Institutional Sales and Marketing at Old Mutual Asset Management and serves on the Executive Management Team. In this capacity, Matthew has responsibility for distribution activities in sub-advisory, consultant, investment only defined contribution (IODC), alternatives and non-US channels. He is also responsible for public relations and marketing. Matthew joined Old Mutual in 2003 as Head of Investment Services and Product Development, where he worked closely with member firms on the development and execution of product strategy. Previously, he served in a variety of roles at Fidelity Investments for 13 years and was employed as a manager at Coopers & Lybrand. Matthew holds a BA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts, and earned his CPA designation in 1983 and CFA designation in 1999.


James E. Mikolaichik - Executive Vice President, Head of Product, Strategy and Corporate Development
James E. Mikolaichik

Jim Mikolaichik is Head of Product, Strategy and Corporate Development of Old Mutual Asset Management and serves on the Executive Management Team. In this capacity, Jim is responsible for US asset management strategy development including product strategy, mergers and acquisitions and capital planning and deployment. Jim joined Old Mutual in 2004 as Director of Risk Management, where he was responsible for the ongoing development of risk management practices at our affiliated investment firms. Previously, Jim spent 11 years with Deloitte where he was responsible for leading project teams in providing business advisory, finance, accounting and auditing services to financial services organizations of all sizes. Jim has a BS in Accounting from Susquehanna University and an MBA from Columbia University. He is also licensed as a certified public accountant in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.


Kathryn M. Horgan - Executive Vice President, Human Resources
Kathryn M. Horgan

Kathy Horgan is Executive Vice President, Human Resources Of Old Mutual Asset Management. In this capacity she is responsible for the delivery of HR strategy and services which will grow the talent base and drive business results. These services include training, employee development, compensation and benefits, employee relations and organizational development. She serves on the Executive Management Team. Previously at Mellon Financial Corporation, Kathy was the Human Resources Director for their global asset management business. She held a variety of HR positions of increasing scale and scope over her ten years with Mellon. Prior to Mellon, Kathy was a Human Resources Manager at Boston Scientific Corporation. She began her career as a Human Resources Representative with Baxter Healthcare Corporation. Kathy graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations.


Matthew E. Berger - Senior Vice President, Interim Chief Financial Officer
Matt Berger

Matt Berger is Senior Vice President and Interim Chief Financial Officer of Old Mutual Asset Management. In such capacity, he is responsible for all financial, management reporting, accounting, tax, and treasury functions for Old Mutual Asset Management. Matt joined Old Mutual in early 2002 and has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in finance, including a year-long assignment at Old Mutual plc in London as Head of Group Planning and Analysis. Prior to joining Old Mutual, Matt spent 7 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers providing auditing and management consultant services with a focus on the investment management industry. Matt has a BBA with honors in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a MBA with honors in Finance from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.


Julian F. Sluyters - President and Chief Executive Officer, Old Mutual Capital
Julian F. Sluyters

Julian Sluyters joined Old Mutual in September 2006 as President and Chief Operating Officer of Old Mutual Capital, our Denver-based retail platform. Prior to joining Old Mutual, Julian served as President and Chief Executive Officer for the Scudder Group of Funds. He also served as Managing Director for UBS Global Asset Management, as well as President and Chief Executive Officer for UBS Fund Services, capping a 12-year tenure that began in 1991 as Treasurer for the PaineWebber funds. Prior to that, he held the position of Senior Audit Manager at Ernst & Young.


John M. Grady - Executive Vice President, Old Mutual plc Global Strategy and Corporate Development
John Grady

John Grady is Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development for Old Mutual plc's Global Strategy Group. He is responsible for strategy and corporate development initiatives across Old Mutual's businesses. He joined the firm in 2002 as the Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for the organization's financial activities including accounting, management reporting, tax reporting, and treasury functions. Prior to joining Old Mutual, John was Senior Vice President & Global Treasurer of CDC IXIS Asset Management. During his seven years at CDC IXIS, he was a member of the company's Mergers & Acquisitions team. Prior to joining CDC IXIS, he held various financial positions at Fleet Financial Group and The Boston Company. John holds a BS in Business Administration from Providence College and an MBA from the Boston University School of Management.
